Fall for Dance 2023 Roundup
I’ve been shooting New York City Center’s Fall for Dance program for a couple of years now. It’s one of the biggest events in the Fall each year and I feel so honored to be a part of it!

This Fall, I had the pleasure of photographing Fall for Dance at New York City Center. This was the first time I made photos of a full show with a live audience for this festival, and it was really fantastic to photograph the show in its full and vibrant entirety (I photographed the 2020 performances during the pandemic without an audience, and last year, I worked with Nel’s video team.)
My wife Nel Shelby, a dance videographer, producer and director, helped me get my start in photographing dance. On recent projects, I’ve been filming dance clients via drone or using the gimbal, becoming even more confident in my collaboration with Nel and her incredible team.
Watch the Video: Margaret Mullin of the Pacific Northwest Ballet came to Jacob’s Pillow and we made creative portraits on the campus grounds to show off the stunning greenery and architecture. Ben Rich of the Nel Shelby Productions team made a short film of the photoshoot.
I spent the first week of the new year in Seattle, working on No Dominion, a documentary dance film, with my wife, Nel Shelby. She’s co-directing No Dominion with Pacific Northwest Ballet soloist dancer Margaret Mullin.
